Any suggestions that will help us out?
I have always wanted to play an instrument, but I never had the opportunity to join band when I was little because my parents struggled financially. I received an acoustic guitar as a gift in high school and began teaching myself tab (because I do not know how to read sheet music). I was never very good at it. Now between my husband and I we have collected quite an assortment of instruments (my acoustic guitar, 2 electric guitars, a keyboard, and a beautiful old piano that needs to be tuned). We would both love to be able to use them! Now my question is, where should we start? Does anyone know of any good books or websites that will help us out?(Lessons are not an option, as we do not have it in our budget). I realize that we will have to start at the very beginning. Thank you ahead of time!
Start with learning the music notes such as ABCDEFG. Once you learn those you should be able to pull off most melodies and beats. For techniques just buy books (with instructions) I play electric and accoustic and I am self taught. Dont go onto tabs since you cant play piano with tabs only guitars. If you want to specialize in guitars then use tabs since it is much easier.
