Bullet For My Valentine amp settings?
im trying to find the perfect BFMV amp setting but can't seem to find it. After listening to their guitar sound over and over i realized that they double their guitar tracks, that's what gives them that thick tone, I just need to know the amp settings (and yes, I know they use peavey 6505's and mesa dual rectifiers, but im focusing more on matts sound, since my rig is more closer sounding to the 6505 he uses). I currently use a Marshall mg15cdr, an ESP f-250, a boss ml-2 and a boss ge-7 eq, and ive gotten pretty close so far, but it just doesnt cut it. help plz!!
i tried scooping also (you would think that would give me a thick tone) but it didnt work. Their guitar sound has a thick tone but there are some mids present too (if you listen to the suffocating under words of sorrow main riff, the g string (CGCFAD) makes a crunchy kind of sound when they are palm muting it, which is due to the perfect balance between mids and gain).
Well ya they double their guitar tracks, pretty much every rock/metal band in the world does that. You would be surprised how many overdubs professional bands do for guitar tracks. As for their amp settings I couldn't really tell ya since I'm not really a fan of them but I would guess that it's pretty typical 'metal' settings...crank the high end (8-10), scoop the middle end (1-3), and crank the low end (8-10)...that is what tons of bands do, it gives that "thick" tone you are talking about.
edit...well dude you know it's really hard to recreate an exact sound from what you hear on a CD. I mean like I said before there are tons of overdubs and layered guitars with all sorts of tones and settings. A lot of bands will use many different guitars/amps/effects and layer them to find the best combination to achieve the desired sound. Just keep tweaking with your stuff...you'll eventually find settings that you like.
