How do I get a good classic rock/ blues tone with a Fender Stratocaster?
I'm looking for the distinctive Jimmy Page like tone that he gets with a Telecaster. Anyone know what amp settings or pickup settings that will work? It's a Fender American Deluxe Strat with the S1 switch if that helps. The amp is a Marshall Haze 40 watt. I don't want to have to buy new equipment since i'm financially crippled after I got the Strat and the amp.
I don't use any pedals or whatever. I only use slight reverb on the amp. I use the gain on the amp without a distortion pedal.
I usually put the overdrive at 3.5, treble at 8, mid at 3, bass at 7, presence at 10.
If it were me I'd get rid of the amp first. If you are finding you are having trouble finding Blues on a strat or tele the problem is not in the guitar.
I own 2 stratocasters and one telecaster they practically play themselves
I don't care for Marshall at all. I'd get a nice fender amp to go with that fine sounding Strat/ that is number one.
Number two is stop using pedals and pre amps unless you need them.
Number three (which would take care of itself if followed number one dont turn up everything (If you have a good or nicer amp number 1 should take care of 1 and 3))
If it says "Marshall" on it it probably is the the bigger problem
treble and bass settings? It can be a problem but in a focal case I really doubt it
edit: Lay off of the whammy i just take them off totally. all they do is put your pitch and tone in the grinder (that is my opinion. Not too sure why a strat would even have those)
