they are all about the same! once upon a time when strings were wound by hand, there was a huge difference in brands.
But now all companies use the same computerized winding machines and they all get there wire from the same sources.
I go through phases of different brands but the most consistent have been the big 4; Ernie Ball, G.H.S., D'addario, and Dean Markley. The absolute best strings that I have ever used (and I have used them all!) are the MAXIMA Gold strings that are actually coated with a coat of pure 24k gold. They are immune to rust and corrosion, last much longer and have a fantastic sound. They are fairly hard to come by and are exspensive as well!

Electric Guitar Question?

I have been playing the acoustic guitar for a while and am now looking into buying an electric guitar
what are the best brands(affordable and durable)?
also, I have found a guitar for $100(comes with amp) by First Act, it's called the 222, and I've watched some reviews and they say its a really good beginners guitar, but the strings break really easy, and i don't know if i should get that one or pay up and try to find a better quality guitar that will last longer?

don't buy that piece of crap, those are for little kids to learn with... Get an Ibanez or a fender... even a squire strat would be awesome. don't buy the target brand guitar.

While normally I would say that your amp is at least 75% of your tone, its important to have good pickups and electronics on your bass.

I would highly recommend active pickups - they don't have to be EMGs, of course, but just about any active pickups are better than passives when it comes to bass.

For less than 100$, for instance, you can pickup (no pun intended) some active pickups for your bass - soapbar, but still going to sound good.... (link below... I think I got it right, its from memory... google "mighty mite pickups")

Either way, I would suggest investing in an onboard preamp, something that is a Very Important Part of a bass guitar - an active preamp allows you a great deal of versatility in shaping your tone, ie since most of them have onboard EQ.

If you can run the actives at 18v (ie two 9v batteries instead of one) it will help with headroom and clarity (ie not cutting out when you snap and pop) and a little bit with output.

Hmmm. this is just a simple answer. haha
ok first of all buy an acoustic guitar, they will most likely get you used to holding and placing the guitar in a comfertable postition, before you go all rock on us! haha!! Get an Acoustic.
Classical guitars are more for songs like :
Flamenco, Samba, Salsa, Cha-Cha styles, and etc.
Classical guitar have nylons string too. Acoustic guitar have steel strings. There is a big difference in sound too.
The acoustic have a more higher pitch and tone in sounds.
Especially the "Cutaway acousitc guitars". Whcih allow you to get to the higher frets and do some solo work on there too.

The Beatles , Dylan, Cat Stevens are mostly Folk in that using the acousitc guitar for those slow & folksy ballads.
So, an Acoustic guitar would appropiate fo what you mentioned above. Some great acoustic guitars to check out are : YAMAHA & IBANEZ. Ibanez has some great killer Acoustic guitars with cool colors too... Andd yes used guitars should be in a good condition.. just dont buy one from Ebay, most likely the best condition used guitar youll find is from a music store.. they have them all over the place if you just look around! haha

these are a light gauge bottom end, so they still sound good, but an extra lite top end, to make them easier to play

Martin and John Pearse are two pretty good brands for acoustic. Most people play at least 11-gauge strings unless their guitar is a smaller scale or if the wood is weak on the body. The salespeople at Guitar Center say that 80/20 bronze is brighter sounding and phosphor bronze is more mellow.

Rock gigs were the rage in the 70's and they drove innumerable kids to buy their 1st electric guitars. In this day and age, video games like Guitar Hero World Tour are having a similar effect.

The heart of all classic rock music doesn't just lie with the lyrics; it also lies with the electric guitar and the various sounds that it can produce. There are so many kids across the block who would give anything to play like Ritchie Blackmore, Carlos Santana, Jimmy Page etc. These men are not just some of the best guitarists of their times, they are legends.

If you are interested in discovering how to play the guitar then the first thing you'll need to buy is a guitar. Normally people start with an acoustic guitar and graduate to the electric. It is usually quite difficult for someone new to select the appropriate electric guitar initially, since there are literally 100's of makes out there on the market. If you are purchasing an electric guitar then you will also need to pick up an amp, pick-ups, picks, a tuner etc.

Electric guitars come in a lot of sizes and designs with the aerodynamic designs being some of the most popular. But hold back! Do not go for the 1st electric guitar you see. You need to look around and check out the wide range of prices and models before you buy one. In fact, one of the neatest ways to pick a guitar is by the brand or by the style. Here's our take on the 4 basic styles:

Stratocaster - This certainly is a show stealer and has a typical style. The most famous is the red and white color combination, which was played all the time by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. The Strato is from Fender and has a neck sturdily attached to the guitar's body. Apart from this, it has twin cut away sides, 22 frets accompanied by a tremolo system and 3 single-coil pickups.
