It's sort of a big deal to stand out on stage or when playing guitar in front of friends in a small group. You can find vocalists just about anywhere, and bands are just as common these days as well. Chances are if you asked a group of high school students if any of them have been in a bad, a good amount of them would say yes. Because this type of thing is getting so big, you need to do something to stand out from the crowd. Every part of a band needs something special, and one of those things can be a red electric guitar.

Standing out, especially if you're looking to perform at more than a casual level, is important. Singers are a dime a dozen, and bands can be found just about anywhere. Chances are if you asked a group of high school students if any of them have been in a bad, a good amount of them would say yes. To stand out, you need something special. Vocalists need great voices, drummers need a good drum kit, and guitarists need something special like a red electric guitar.

A red electric guitar won't make you a faster shredder or a better player, but it can boost your image by quite a bit. Red is the color that travels the furthest among all the colors. It's also a color that grabs your attention. Red gets your attention and never wants to let go, clasping tight around your throat. With a red guitar, you might grab someone's eye in the best way possible.

As always, a guitar is not worth anything if you can not play it comfortably. The same can be said of a red electric guitar. No matter what, comfort is key. The color, while you're going to use it, isn't what you really need to play well. It is all actually in your abilities. It may look or even sound great when someone else is playing it, but that's not what you should be considering. You should be paying attention to the way it looks and sounds on you. A guitar is supposed to make you look unique, not look like everyone else.

Some musicians have such distinct styles that even a few notes may be able to clue you in that it's their work, such as Carlos Santana and Beck. This is why using red for now is important: you need to establish yourself one way or another for the time being. If you're going to play what everyone else does, don't get too hopeful for the future. Seek out the perfect sound that flows from your fingers and makes you special.

Finding and purchasing a red electric guitar is actually fairly simple. If you're lucky enough to find your sound in a standard guitar, then repainting is a decent option. Making it look good, especially if you have decided on a very high quality guitar, requires a light touch. In truth, you do not have to pick only red. Red's just the strongest color. No matter what color you choose, make it yours.

If you are looking to really get your name out there, you need to have something that makes you one of a kind. A red electric guitar can help you do just that.

by Kyle Zoltowski

Rock gigs were the rage in the 70's and they drove innumerable kids to buy their 1st electric guitars. In this day and age, video games like Guitar Hero World Tour are having a similar effect.

The heart of all classic rock music doesn't just lie with the lyrics; it also lies with the electric guitar and the various sounds that it can produce. There are so many kids across the block who would give anything to play like Ritchie Blackmore, Carlos Santana, Jimmy Page etc. These men are not just some of the best guitarists of their times, they are legends.

If you are interested in discovering how to play the guitar then the first thing you'll need to buy is a guitar. Normally people start with an acoustic guitar and graduate to the electric. It is usually quite difficult for someone new to select the appropriate electric guitar initially, since there are literally 100's of makes out there on the market. If you are purchasing an electric guitar then you will also need to pick up an amp, pick-ups, picks, a tuner etc.

Electric guitars come in a lot of sizes and designs with the aerodynamic designs being some of the most popular. But hold back! Do not go for the 1st electric guitar you see. You need to look around and check out the wide range of prices and models before you buy one. In fact, one of the neatest ways to pick a guitar is by the brand or by the style. Here's our take on the 4 basic styles:

Stratocaster - This certainly is a show stealer and has a typical style. The most famous is the red and white color combination, which was played all the time by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. The Strato is from Fender and has a neck sturdily attached to the guitar's body. Apart from this, it has twin cut away sides, 22 frets accompanied by a tremolo system and 3 single-coil pickups. Fender designed the first Strato in the early 50's. A few of the popular designs include:

* Fender Deluxe Stratocaster: Approx $550 * American Deluxe Strat HSS in Rosewood: Approx $1100 * Fender Standard Strat Electric in Maple: Approx $400 * Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar in Rosewood: Approx $700 * Stratocaster Eric Johnson Signature model: Approx $1750

Telecaster (Better known as a 'Tele') - The Telecaster is another phenomenal instrument from Fenders. It is more than just another axe; it is more like a complete orchestra. It is a solid body guitar and comprises of dual pick-ups. The first Telecaster was manufactured by Fender in the 1940's and has a single cutaway body. It doesn't have the wah wah bar but has two different single-coil pickups. Some of the popular Telecaster models include:

* American Tele HS: $900-$1200 * Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar: $300-$600 * 63 Telecaster Relic Solid Body Electric: $2600-$3150 * 72 Telecaster Custom Guitar: $700-$850

Gibson Les Paul - This classic electric guitar was designed by Gibson for some of the jazz stars of the era. The salient feature of a Les Paul guitar is its set neck construction, which means there are no bolts. The body is a single cutaway and rounded. It is appointed with two pickups as well as a elevated scratch-plate. If you want to play twisted sound then this great guitar will provide you with a varied range. Some of the well known guitarists who use the Les Pauls include Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana. Some of the notable Les Paul models include:

* Les Paul Custom Electric: $3050-$3550 * 1959 Les Paul Standard: $5500-$6000 * Les Paul Vintage Mahogany Electric Guitar: $750-$800 * Les Paul Classic Guitar: $1850-$1900

Gibson - This is one of the greatest brands in all of guitar and all their guitar models are classics that can't be compared to others. Gibson was actually incorporated in 1902 by Orville Gibson and has been accountable for providing us some of the most innovative acoustic and electric guitars. Some of the famous models include the arch-top Gibson L5 model and the Gibson Explorer etc. Some of the well known guitarists who have shredded on a Gibson or are still using it include Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) and Frank Zappa to name a couple. Some of the popular models include:

* Flying V: $500-$600 * SG 61 Classic: $1500-$1600 * Faded SG Special Electric Guitar: $550-$600 * Explorer Pro Electric: $1100-$1200

These are some of the most well known brands of electric guitars. The other aspects that will help you to pick up a guitar include fretboard, the sound of the pick-ups, and the body. Full-bodied electrics are normally preferred as they can produce some of the best noises that you will ever get to hear.

by Payo W Perry

Making the decision to learn electric guitar is a source of excitement. An entire world or sonic colour, passion and musical bliss opens its doors! Often its some kind of inspiration such a great rock solo you've heard or simply life telling you go here, that makes you want to take it up.

Since acoustic guitar is often the cheaper option to start with most people begin there and move on to electric after a year or so. It certainly doesn't have to be that way but having some playing experience on acoustic guitar - strumming chords ECT, will help you to progress that bit faster on electric.

An important point is to think about which direction you wish to travel musically. Learning electric guitar for Jazz is vastly different from Indie, or Blues from Metal you get the idea. Once you know what it is you'd like to be able to play it will simplify the search to find the right electric guitar lessons for the direction you wish to travel.

The most inviting thing about guitar is that it's so accessible; there are no set rules as to how you must learn electric guitar, its open and up to you. My advice is to take advantage of all the resources available to us these days. By combining all of them you'll progress quickly. So take private lessons along with an online site for how to play electric guitar, DVDs, books use it all in combination.

Finally a warning, please learn things which are easy and gradually build up your technique. Its going to take a while - all worthwhile things do. Even though you may be dying to learn that favorite song or solo you must stay within your current level and gradually build it up. If you attempt to play things which are too difficult for you now you'll end up very frustrated, you'll fail, you'll quit.

To learn electric guitar successfully do a little bit of practice each day, use all the resources available to you with private tuition and the web, stay within your level and you'll avoid most of the major pitfalls!
